Our Story

Brunel Marine Coating Systems was founded in 1995 with a clear mission: to create the most environmentally responsible and high-performing underwater marine coating available. After several years of development and testing, that goal was achieved in 1999 with the launch of EnviroMarine, a 100% solids, completely non-toxic, and solvent-free coating, built to outperform all major brands in both durability and sustainability.

To prove EnviroMarine's performance, Brunel conducted a full-scale field test in 2000 on the M/V CP Prospect, a 225m (740ft) containership. The forward and aft thirds of the hull were coated with EnviroMarine. The middle third used a premium antifouling system from a major manufacturer. All coatings were applied using the same surface preparation, in the same shipyard, by the same crew.

Over the next six years, the M/V CP Prospect operated in a wide range of conditions, from ice-breaking routes in the North Atlantic to slow-moving tropical waters like the Panama Canal. When she returned to drydock in 2006, the results were clear. The major manufacturer's coating had failed, with 85% of the system gone and some areas worn down to bare steel. In contrast, the EnviroMarine-coated sections showed no signs of delamination and no measurable loss of film thickness.

That same level of performance has been replicated in every application since.
